Glass door kills Russian boy in Cyprus

An eight-year-old boy from Russia died in Cyprus. The boy arrived in Ayia Napa with his parents for summer holidays, Interfax reports. The child did not notice a heavy glass door at the entrance to the hotel and ran into the door at full speed.

The glass broke into thousands of pieces that caused serious injuries to the boy. The child died on the way to the hospital.

The tragic incident took place on Monday, May 28th. The employees of the hotel told reporters that the boy arrived for the holidays together with his mother and grandmother.

Police officers said that the boy was seriously injured when they arrived. The child was immediately sent to a private clinic in the town of Paralimni, but the boy died on the way.

Local authorities said that there was no criminal negligence found on the part of the hotel employees. There were special stickers on the upper, middle and lower parts of the glass door.
