Orphan boils his friend in bathtub alive

A 40-year-old nurse of the orphanage for mentally deficient children in the town of Egorievsk is going to face trial in Russia's Altay region.  The woman did not watch the residents properly, which resulted in a tragedy.

The tragic story took place in May. The nurse was helping a 22-year-old young man suffering from a severe congenital neuropsychic disease. The lady was helping him take a bath. She filled the bathtub with hot water, checked the water, helped the patient get in the bathtub and left to the laundry room. She did not shut the door behind her, the Siberian News Agency said.

While she was away, another resident on a wheelchair entered the bathroom. The boy was suffering from a mental illness. He entered the room, approached the bathtub and turned the hot water on.

The victim suffered first and second degree burns of his legs. The young man in the bathtub experienced a very strong shock and suffered a heart failure. The man died on the scene, forensic experts said.

The nurse has been charged with infliction of death by negligence due to improper execution of professional duties, Altapress news agency said.

The woman quit her job at the orphanage immediately after the accident.
