Over 100 cars pile up in China, 21 killed

42871.jpegTwo road accidents today claimed 21 lives, including that of 14 school children, in China where in one of the mishaps over 100 vehicles piled up against each other on a foggy highway.

In a tragic accident, as many as 14 children were killed and one went missing when a three-wheeler ferrying primary school children plunged into a creek at Songjiang township in Hengyang city of the central Hunan province. Another four were injured in the incident, a spokesman with the city government's information office said, Outlook reports.

The pile-up began when a truck crashed into a petrol station in Zunyi County at about 8 a.m.

At around 10 a.m., visibility on the expressway was less than 50 meters due to fog. Traffic banked up to about 20 km after the accident.

In a separate incident, nine school children were killed and 10 injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling plunged into a creek in central China's Hunan province. The accident occurred at 7.30 a.m. in Hengnan County, said an official, Sify informs.
