Threat of a Bomb on Board a Thai Plane with Nearly 200 Passengers

A Thai plane with nearly 200 passengers on board was grounded in Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday after a bomb threat which turned out to be a hoax as no credible signs of any explosives was found on board, reports quoting the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

A note threatening that there was a bomb on board the Thai Airways Flight 794 from Bangkok was found in a lavatory of the plane at 7:15 p.m. local time, while it was flying over the Pacific Ocean, RTTNews says.

Investigators who conducted a thorough search of the aircraft, including passenger luggage and cargo, found no evidence to suggest there is a credible threat to the aircraft," said FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

"Procedures to render the aircraft and its contents safe were conducted by FBI and (LA police) bomb technicians and canine handlers. An investigation to identify the person/s responsible for making the threat is continuing", AFP reports.
