A knife-wielding maniac has stabbed 18 pupils and a teacher at a Chinese school as another man was executed for killing eight children in a similar attack last month.
The official Xinhua News Agency said the man broke into Leicheng Primary School in southern Leizhou city at about 3pm (8am BST) on Wednesday.
Parents rushed to the school, and school officials were asking the rest of the pupils to go home. The man, described as in his 40s, was in police custody, according to The Press Association.
The horror attack, which happened around 3pm local time, came as Zheng Minsheng, 41, was put to death in nearby Fujian province for killing eight pupils in the city of Nanping on March 23.
The former doctor, who had a history of mental illness, sparked into a fit of rage after he was jilted by a lover, Sky News reported.
