An 8-year-old girl was run down by William Geisler, 86, today just outside the school at about 8:40 a.m. The driver alleged that he had lost control of his vehicle near the E.G. Lyons Elementary School, where he tried to park his car and go vote.

The police learned that the driver drove onto a grassy area, then crossed a sidewalk before striking the girl and then hit the front of the school. The girl got serious injuries. She was rescued from under the SUV and immediately taken to Boston Medical Center.

Concerned about the driver’s condition due to his age, the police took the driver to a nearby hospital.

The parents of the hit second-grader demand closing schools as polling stations for voting period or not using schools as such.
