A small plane crashed at Minnesota's Faribault Municipal Airport. Two people were killed, two passengers aboard survived. The airport was closed for the whole night after the accident.

The four-seat Cirrus SR22 burst into flames and scattered debris across the air field when it crashed just off the runway around 3 p.m.

The Rice County Sheriff's office declined to immediately release further details, including the identities of the victims and the severity of the injuries to the two survivors.

Tony Molinaro, FAA spokesman for the Great Lakes region, said officials have not been able to find a flight plan, so they are unsure where the plane came from or where it was headed.
