Suicide bomber kills six Afghans instead of Italian soldiers

Six Afghans, including three children, were killed by a suicide bomber who targeted at Italian soldiers building a bridge.

The mid-morning attack wounded nine people, including three of the soldiers, who were building a bridge about 10 kilometers (5 miles) west of Kabul , said Zemeri Bashary, the Interior Ministry spokesman.

Three school children were killed in the blast, said Abdul Razaq, the chief government official in the Paghman area, where the bombing occurred.

Razaq said only the legs of the suicide bomber were left behind after the bombing.

Afghanistan has seen more than 130 suicide attacks this year - a record number. More than 5,800 people have died this year in insurgency-related violence, also a record, according to figures from Afghan and Western officials.
