A twin-engine plane fell down shortly after takeoff from California's Chino Airport, killing two people.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Beechcraft A100 took off shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on a flight to Visalia, about 189 miles (304 kilometers) north of Los Angeles, and went down three-quarters of a mile (about 1 kilometer) west of the airport. Chino is about 37 miles (59.54 kilometers) west of Los Angeles.

Footage from television news helicopters showed the plane upside down in a field. A long skid mark led to the plane.

Skies were hazy at the time and Gregor said the plane took off using its instruments.

However, it was not immediately clear if the weather played any role in the crash.
