U.S. dollar mixed, gold up in European morning trading

The U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold rose.

The euro traded at US$1.3443, up from 1.3427 late Wednesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

119.37 Japanese yen, up from 119.30

1.2202 Swiss francs, up from 1.2201

1.1395 Canadian dollars, down from 1.1420

The British pound traded at US$1.9748, down from US$1.9753.

Gold traded in London at US$678.50, up from US$675.60 late Wednesday.

In Zurich gold traded at US$676.60, up from US$674.20.

Gold fell US$2.10 in Hong Kong to US$676.25.

Silver opened in London at US$13.89, up from US$13.78.
