Michael Gordon Mele: You Asked for Opinion About PRAVDA

I frequently visit English PRAVDA.Ru for the news and the opinions published there. I am American born, of half German and half Italian descent. I am about third or fourth generation American...removed from European roots. If I had one wish, I would live in Europe, probably around Munich. It's just so much more peaceful and so much closer to the cultural empathies that I feel running in my veins. American politics and culture are starving, hollow corpses, animated by one thing, and one thing only...the dollar. The politics and culture are that way now, always have been, and who knows what the future of the United States is anyway? Do I sound like an Un-American American? Suffice it to say that I have travelled to more than 20 countries, so I know how vapid American culture is when compared with other Civilised Societies.

Since American culture is so empty-minded and lacking in foresight, the American information and news outlets are in turn a mirror reflection of an empty-minded, impatient, and self-centered American society. There is a pontification that says...in essence, ..."The American Dream"...tens of millions here in America need to wake up from some dream.... When I was growing up, my father and his peers were full of pride over American successes after WWII. With those ideas I heard at the kitchen table and echoed in the media, as a young man, I volunteered to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the era called the cold war. Now that that is over and other paradigms are forming on our planet, I can see with some perspective how one-sided American propaganda really is. Every iota of information is geared toward making a buck. The influential American Editors' and their subordinates' concerns seem only to be with numbers of dollars; when there should be concern for the well being of the numbers of people who populate The Human Family living on the various continents. In his song Called "Dirty Laundry", Don Henley sings a satire about American Television News Anchors. Part of the song's lyric goes:

"...I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear"...and... "You don't really need to find out what's going on; you don't really want to know just how far it's gone; just leave well enough alone..." ...and... "We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing; When it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing; We all know that crap is King, Give us dirty laundry". And so on......

So that song is a true satire.

I get no hard facts or deep insights into world events and opinions if I simply rely on American News announcers and American print media outlets. Thankfully, PRAVDA.Ru is on the web in English so I am able to hear news and opinions from your area of the planet. I am not here to praise or to criticise PRAVDA's factual accuracy or to comment on the editorial content. I am here to tell you that I rely on your work to help me form my own outlook on events. With effort, a person can reach reasonable conclusions and can keep abreast of current events as they happen, and PRAVDA.Ru is one of my top five news sources. Thank You all for your effort and hard work in reporting the news as you see it, and for offering your opinions for the whole world to view. That is a Brave and Noble endeavour.

Sincerely, Michael Gordon Mele Georgia, USA
