Mike Scherback: Some insight from an American

Many citizens here in America are outraged by the Global Police business our government is engaged in. This American believes that if President Bush wants to rid the world of evil, he needs to start right here at home.

Shortly after the September 11th Tragedy I heard President Bush (also known as “Ghengis Kahn”) explain that we were attacked because people are jealous of our prosperity. The President is about as smart as a bag of hair if he thinks we are going to buy into that one. Prosperity has nothing to do with it!

Prior to writing this I sat back one day and thought about how I would feel if another countries’ soldiers came here and started house-to-house searches or manned a checkpoint in the city where I live. Certain words came to mind like Sovereignty, Liberty, Freedom and many other principles that this country was founded upon all of this of course, was accompanied by anger. People aren’t jealous of our prosperity, as President Bush would have you believe, their Angry!

The really scary thing is that many of the atrocities our government is inflicting on the people of the world is exactly what brought us to war for Independence against England in the 18th century. One of our most famous documents of that time, the Declaration of Independence, spells out those offences committed by the King of England that made us so angry. The similarity to our foreign policy of today sends a chill down my spine. As you read the 4 clauses below from the Declaration of Independence remember that we went to war over this! “HE has kept among us, in Times of Peace, Standing Armies, without the consent of our Legislatures.” “HE has combined with others to subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:” “FOR quartering large Bodies of Armed Troops among us;” “FOR transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offences:” Taken from the Declaration of Independence July 4th 1776 Sound familiar? How can our government be so arrogant as to believe they are justified to dictate their policy by force in any country, after we fought a war ourselves over these very same issues? It is time for the citizens of America and the world to stop letting our government dictate what they should and should not do. They must be held accountable! No country should govern another with or without consent. Stop the tyranny before it’s to late.
