An official representative of Gazprom, Sergei Kupriyanov, said that the delegation of Gazprom left the trilateral Russia-Ukraine-EU meeting in Brussels and set off on a way back to Moscow. The meeting was devoted to the problem of gas supplies.
"When there is something to talk about, we will come back. The European Commission and Ukraine need to solve a number of issues related to finance. Without that, continuing the meetings in the trilateral format makes no sense," the official said.
The official added that the delegation of the Russian company may fly back to Brussels any time, as soon as there is progress reached on the Ukraine-EU protocol.
As a result of the first round of talks that were conducted in Brussels on October 30, Russia, Ukraine and the European Union failed to agree on gas supplies to Kiev.
The head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, assured that the negotiations would resume only after Ukraine and the European Commission agree on financial guarantees for gas supplies from Russia.
Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Kiev had not provided such guarantees. "It does not go about guarantees - it goes about only statements from the Ukrainian side, because, as you know, no written guarantees have been provided to us yet. In this regard, the risks of whether the funds are coming or not are neutralized with the prepayment mode. When there's money - there's gas," the official said.
