Chinese company to reconstruct Kaluga airport

In the Kaluga Region, an agreement was signed on the reconstruction of the airport in Grabtsevo. According to the document, the general contractor of the reconstruction of Kaluga Airport is PETRO-HAIHUA, a Chinese company.

"We believe that the support of the Government of the Kaluga region and our resources will allow to perform the planned works at the facility in time," PETRO-HAIHUA CEO, Song Jingyu said.

The agreement provides for the upgrade of the runway, taxiways, aircraft parking and the downspout drainage system. A scheme of public and private partnerships will be used in the financing of the project. The total cost of the works will make up 1 billion 714 million rubles, of which 913 million will be assigned from the federal budget.

"The duration of the project is very tight. The Chinese company won the tender in a fair competition with other contenders, many of whom were scared away by that," Governor of the Kaluga region Anatoly Artamonov said.

Reconstruction works are to be finished in the fall of 2014. Kaluga Airport is designed to handle A-319 aircraft. The capacity of the airport will make up 100,000 passengers a year. The route network will connect the regional center with major cities of Russia and the world.
