Former president of Russian car giant AvtoVAZ, Igor Komarov, was appointed deputy head of the Russian Federal Space Agency. The corresponding statement was signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The news saying that Komarov swapped AvtoVAZ for space industry appeared in early October. It was suggested that he would chair the United Rocket and Space Corporation, which would include all companies in the area.

The head of the Russian Federal Space Agency has been changed as well. Vladimir Popovkin, who was freed from his post, will be replaced by ex-deputy defense minister Oleg Ostapenko.

The administration of Russia 's largest carmaker, AvtoVAZ, is to be entrusted to the President of GAZ Group, Bo Anderson.
