Russia may authorize the supplies of beef by-products from the UK that have been banned during the last 30 years.

Restrictions were introduced in 1986 because of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, known as "mad cow disease".

The issue will be discussed at a meeting between Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Eugene Nepoklonov and chief veterinarian of the United Kingdom Nigel Gibbens.

The officials will also discuss temporary restrictions on the imports of cattle to Russia from the European Union. The restrictions were introduced because of the disease caused by Schmallenberg virus.
