Nizhny Novgorod region targets innovations

The development of industry and the increase of production output of innovative products were discussed in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Teploobmennik Company held the exit meeting of the government with the participation of Governor Valery Shantsev. The head of the region urged industrialists to focus on the production of innovative products by 2015.

"Processing industry is the foundation of our economy. We finished 2012 with the production volume of about 900 billion rubles. This is higher than in pre-crisis 2008, when it was 690 billion," said the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev. According to him, the Nizhny Novgorod region enters into the period of economic growth.

As of today, the Nizhny Novgorod region produces seven percent of innovative products. The average index for this field in Russia is four percent. Before 2015, the region is to reach the level of 15 percent.

"Innovation implies competitive, high profits, conditions for further successful development of businesses," said Valery Shantsev.

One of the problems is the lack of highly qualified personnel. At the suggestion of the governor, it is planned to create a separate department for training at Teploobmennik company. Shantsev promised to assist the company administration in solving housing issues for personnel.
