The capital of the Urals has become the leader among megacities in terms of the creation of conditions for doing business. All-Russian public organization of small and medium business the Support of Russia has calculated the index of "easiness of doing business in the regions." The indicator measures the regions of the country that suit business activities most.
This year, Ekaterinburg comes ahead of 18 megacities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Chelyabinsk. In the ranking of the Russian Federation, the Sverdlovsk region is located in the middle of the list, well ahead of both capitals. Specialists of the organization interviewed over six thousand businessmen from 39 Russian regions.
The questions of increasing investment attractiveness and creating a comfortable environment for businesses play a key role in the socio-economic development of the Sverdlovsk region. The region implements regional program "Enhancing the investment attractiveness of the Sverdlovsk region" for 2011-2015. With its help, the region expects to create optimal conditions for investors and businesses to encourage the arrival in the region. A system to support investors has been created for the purpose: government guarantees, subsidies from the regional budget, privileged taxation.
"It is important that our potential partners should see that the region is open for cooperation, that we are interested to engage into a constructive dialogue and find balanced solutions on each particular project," governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev said.
The International Ural Exhibition and the Forum of Industry and Innovation "Innoprom" plays an important role in enhancing the investment attractiveness of the region. This year, the exhibition has received the status of the country's main industrial exhibition.
At "Innoprom," the region demonstrates its potential, but also gains experience, develops the technologies of exhibitions, which in today's world serve one of the most profitable activities. This is particularly important in the fight of Ekaterinburg for the right for host Expo 2020.
In addition, regional authorities try to create clear "rules of the game" for investors in all directions and to ensure economic and legal predictability. Therefore, the governor set a task: "Every ministry and every municipality should take active participation in investment activities that play an important role in the solution of actual issues for investors - labor force, land and infrastructure."
