Germany's Ferrostaal to build gas-processing plant in Yakutia

The delegation of Germany's well-known natural gas company Ferrostaal has recently arrived in Yakutsk. The government of Yakutia and Ferrostaal signed the protocol on the implementation of natural gas processing project in the republic. Experts began to develop the project of building a plant for processing YAGRES-2 gas in the village of Nizhny Bestyah.

The company Ferrostaal builds factories and electric power plants. It acts as the general contractor in the petrochemical industry worldwide. Ferrostaal realizes large gas projects in South America and Africa. The decision of the administration of the German company to choose Yakutia was not incidental. At the meeting, Ferrostaal's Vice-President for petrochemical production Uwe Zwiefelhofer said that Yakutia had more favorable conditions as compared with other regions of Russia. There is railway in the republic, the systems of gas supply and logistics are developed very well. The company also believes that the support from the leadership of Yakutia is an additional bonus in the current situation.

"The construction of the plant for processing natural gas will be of great importance for the entire gas industry in the region. The plant will also be important for the implementation of a large energy project - the construction of the new YAGRES-2 power plant, which would require a large amount of gas," deputy chairman of Yakutia, Pavel Marinychev said. In addition, it will create huge industrial capacities in Yakutia. The construction of YAGRES-2 will begin this year.

The joint Saha-German work group has been created. Alexander Zotey cle ev, the Adviser to the President of Yakutia, was appointed the head of the work group. He already has experience in implementing large-scale oil and gas projects in the republic, including those with the participation of foreign capital.

The German delegation visited the Yakutsk Gas Processing Plant of JSC "Sakhatransneftegaz." Uwe Zwiefelhofer said that the company was interested in the project to expand the gas processing plant. In particular, he added, it goes about the creation of gas-purification production. He offered the administration of the republic to consider the participation of the German company in this project,. In response, Pavel Marinychev stated that the suggestion was a good opportunity to strengthen the emerging business ties further.
