Deutsche Bahn AG to buy British Laing Rail

By Alexa Steblinina. Deutsche Bahn AG, German national railway said Monday that it would purchase the division of Laing Rail. The UK government's Department for Transport, Transport for London and the Office of Rail Regulation are to approve the subject.

The company said that it would buy the division of Deutsche Bahn responsible for commuter and regional passenger services.

According to Bahn, the name and Chiltern Railways identity would remain the same and the same team will control the company.

Deutsche Bahn AG (abbr. DB AG, DBAG or simply DB) is the successor of the former state railways of Germany: the Deutsche Bundesbahn of West Germany, the Deutsche Reichsbahn of the German Democratic Republic and the West Berlin VdeR.

In conjunction with American Airlines, Emirates Airline, and Lufthansa, Deutsche Bahn operates rail services (AiRail Service) between Frankfurt International Airport and Bonn, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Freiburg, Hamburg, Hanover, Mannheim, Munich, Nuremberg, and Stuttgart. Deutsche Bahn has the IATA designator 2A.
