Ericsson to buy HyC Group

By Anastasia Tomazhenkova. Ericsson informed on Thursday it had purchased HyC Group. Hyc Group is a Spanish leading company in TV consultancy and systems integration. The acquisition further strengthens Ericsson's position in the services and multimedia domains as a systems integrator of IPTV solutions.

IPTV is a key technology for telecom operators and service providers that aims to offer interactive and personalized broadband TV services to fixed and mobile users. With the acquisition of HyC, Ericsson further strengthens its ability to support operators and service providers in the solution design, installation, integration and operation of IPTV services.

Ericsson is a leading Swedish-based provider of telecommunication and data communication systems, and related services covering a range of technologies, including handset technology platforms. Founded in 1876 as a telegraph equipment repair shop by Lars Magnus Ericsson, it was incorporated on August 18, 1918. Headquartered in Kista, Stockholm Municipality, since 2003, LM Ericsson is considered to be part of the so-called "Wireless Valley". Since the mid 1990s, Ericsson's extensive presence in Stockholm helped transform the capital into one of Europe's hubs of information technology research.

The professional services portfolio of the company includes capability in consulting, education, systems integration, managed services, network rollout, deployment and optimization and technical/customer support services. The Company offers managed services capabilities within the telecom industry. Its offerings cover management of day-to-day operations of a customer's network (Home Internet Solution), including a managed capacity service for a network build out and on-demand capacity, as well as hosting of applications and content management. LM Ericsson's Internet Payment eXchage service facilitates payment and distribution of content by interconnecting content providers, media companies, governments and consumer brands with operators.
