Britvic PLC' s business goes uphill

British soft drinks maker Britvic PLC reached 76 percent of full-year profit.

Net income for the year through Sept. 30 rose to 42.5 million pounds (US$87.9 million; 59.4 million EUR) from 24.2 million pounds in the previous year, the company said in a statement. Sales grew 5.7 percent to 716.3 million pounds (US$1.5 billion; 1 billion EUR).

"We have outperformed the soft drinks market across all key categories, with a strong performance from our brands, despite difficult trading conditions in the second half of the year," the company said.

Britvic in May bought the soft drinks operations of Ireland's Cantrell & Cochrane Group PLC for 249.2 million EUR(US$336.5 million) in cash. The deal added brands such as Ballygowan mineral water to Britvic's portfolio.

Britvic shares gained 2.8 percent to 347 pence (US$7.17; 4.95 EUR) on the London Stock Exchange.
