OceanAir to temporarily take over operations of BRA Transportes Aereas

BRA Transportes Aereas' operations will be temporally taken over by Brazilian carrier OceanAir.

OceanAir will try to ensure flights for the customers who already have BRA tickets, Defense Minister Nelson Jobim told journalists in Rio de Janeiro. The defense ministry oversees civil aviation in Brazil.

Struggling amid rising debt, BRA suddenly stopped operations this week. TAM SA and GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes, Brazil's largest airlines, had been honoring BRA tickets.

OceanAir and BRA concentrate on regional flights and had a codeshare deal until September. BRA had 4.6 percent of the local air market, while OceanAir had 2.6 percent.
