Haitian President Rene Preval was in Cuba on Monday for routine medical tests, his spokesman said.
Preval, who received treatment in Cuba for a bout with prostate cancer six years ago, traveled to Havana over the weekend after attending a conference in the Dominican Republic, spokesman Volce Assad said.
"The president went for a routine checkup that he has to do regularly with his doctors," Assad said, adding that Preval would return to Haiti on Tuesday.
The 63-year-old president revealed in December that blood tests showed possible signs that his cancer had returned, but he said later that further testing in Havana showed he was cancer-free, reports AP.
Preval was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2001, the final year of his first presidential term.
