A possible new case of &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/accidents/2001/09/21/15791.html ' target=_blank>mad cow disease is now under investigation of the State Department of Agriculture (USDA), a spokeswoman for the agency said Thursday.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced earlier in the day that a second case of the disease may have turned up in the United States. The federal agency released few details and refused to say where the possibly diseased animal was found.
Additional test results were to be released in four to seven days, wrote Seattle Post.
"The response for any positive is the same," said Ed Curlett, spokesman for the department's animal and plant health inspection service.
"We determine the source of the infection and take the appropriate regulatory actions."
