Iran presents bill to new Iraqi government and criticises USA

Iraq' future government must pay Iran for the damages inflicted on it during the war between Iran and Iraq in 1980-1988, Chairman of the Iranian Council on Expediency of Taken Decisions /under the spiritual leader Ali Hoseini Khamenei/ Hojjat ul-Islam /one of Shiism's highest titles/ Ali Albar Hashemi-Rafsanjani has stated.

Moreover, the President of the Iranian Islamic Republic stated that "the UN had officially acknowledged Iran's right for compensation of the damage inflicted by the war with Iraq". The total sum of the damage amounts to billions of dollars.

In his speech Rafsanjani also criticised the USA for supporting the group "Mojaheddin-e Khalq organisation" acting on the territory of Iraq and said that "the USA were not only insincere in their statements concerning the Organisation but also supported this terrorist group." The Council Chairman denied all accusations made by Washington concerning Iran harbouring Al-Qaeda and Taleban members and called the accusations groundless.
