George Robertson, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, called very important Vladimir Putin's assurances that Russia is not going to use its new format of relations for joining the North Atlantic Alliance from "the back door" or for interference in the vital affairs of the Alliance. Russia is not going to abuse the right of veto, he said at the summary press conference in Moscow. It is a very important assurance, stressed George Robertson. To him, at today's negotiations the sides noted that there is a whole range of areas in which NATO and Russia see positive opportunities for work in the "20 format". In these areas new dimensions of cooperation are possible and this moment should not be missed. It is the last important message which I will take along to the council of the North Atlantic Alliance in Brussels, said the NATO secretary general.
