Heads Of Parliaments Of Russia And Kazakhstan Approve Regulations For Bilateral Cooperation

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Gennady Seleznyov and Chairman of the Majlis of Kazakhstan Zharmakhan Tuyakbai on Wednesday signed the Regulations of the Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation. The delegation of the State Duma, headed by Chairman of the Lower House Gennady Seleznyov, arrived in Astana on Tuesday to pay a visit. The Chairman of the Majlis expressed the hope that the signing of the Regulations would contribute to the further rapprochement between Russia and Kazakhstan. Gennady Seleznyov pointed out the importance of strengthening contacts between the two countries, remarking that Kazakhstan accounts for the third place, after Byelorussia and Ukraine, in Russia's trade. The inter-parliamentary relations between Russia and Kazakhstan "have gone over from only official visits to the work on strengthening contacts inside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)," underscored chairman of the State Duma's committee for the CIS Boris Pastukhov. He came out for the earliest creation of a single economic space within the framework of the CIS.
