The team of Donald Trump did not attach much importance to his first conversation as president with the head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Trump's press service did not even publish a release about the conversation, although the team of the US president-elect did cover Donald Trump's conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, Ukraine remains very proud of Poroshenko's conversation with Trump. According to Kiev officials, Poroshenko assured Trump of his readiness for active cooperation to strengthen strategic partnership. Poroshenko also invited Trump to pay a visit to Ukraine "at a convenient time."
Noteworthy, Donald Trump did not wish to meet Ukrainian President Poroshenko in September, at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Ukrainian authorities do not lose hope. Representatives of the Poroshenko administration have announced their readiness to cooperate with US President elect Donald Trump. Former Odessa region Governor and Georgian ex-president Mikhail Saakashvili said that he had known Trump for many years.
Poroshenko himself said during the election process in the USA that Ukraine would continue receiving support from the United States.
Meanwhile, political analysts and experts believe that Ukraine may face serious problems because of Donald Trump's victory in the election. In particular, the billionaire announced his intention to revise USA's spending for the support of democracies in third countries.
