British WWII Veterans Celebrate V-E Anniversary In Tatarstan

A delegation of World War II veterans arrived in Kazan, capital of Tatarstan in the Volga country, to celebrate the 56th V-E anniversary, say republican presidential PR. The visitors, Royal Navy veterans, took part in the renowned WWII Arctic convoys, which were delivering cargos from Britain and Iceland to Russia's northern seaports Archangel and Murmansk. The veterans visited a municipal welfare centre today, tomorrow to lay wreaths to the Admiral Galler monument in the Arsky cemetery. They will demonstrate with Russian war veterans from the city central square to Central Park, and join an outdoor fete in Victory Park. Republican President Mintimer Shaimiev will receive the delegates, May 10.
