Madonna rejects Elton John's accusations

Madonna has rejected Elton John's scathing accusations that she lip-synchs during her stage performances.

"Madonna does not lip-synch nor does she spend her time trashing other artists.

"She sang every note of her Re-Invention tour live and is not ashamed that she was well paid for her hard work," the star's US spokesperson Liz Rosenberg said.

Madonna's Re-Invention tour, replete with pumping dance routines and yoga displays, came to Britain in August. It has attracted criticism for its pricey tickets - seats cost a minimum of Ј75, going up to Ј160 for prime spots.

&to=http://english.pravda.ru/culture/2002/07/04/31778.html' target=_blank>Elton John launched a scathing verbal attack on Madonna during an award ceremony on Monday in which he accused her of cheating her fans by lip-synching on stage.

Attending the Q Awards in central London to collect a prize for his songwriting, Elton, 56, was incensed to find the Queen of Pop had been nominated for best live act.

"Since when has lip-synching been live?" he asked. "Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay Ј75 to see them should be shot," reports News24.

According to ABC News, Madonna, whose "Re-Invention" world tour stopped in Britain in August, did not win the best live act award. It went to British band Muse.

John has never been afraid to speak his mind. Last month he made headlines in Taiwan by telling photographers they were a bunch of "rude, vile pigs."
