A non-profit charitable organization, the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., will get large donations that may help it to improve its financial “crisis”.
The operator of several online collaborative projects will receive $3 million from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and about $500,000 from Vinod Khosla, an Indian-American venture capitalist.
The Wikimedia Foundation is going to invent Sloan money in construction of a Wikipedia feature called "flagged revisions" that allows to grade the quality status of published articles. It’s still unknown what goals await Vinod Khosla’s contribution.
