Russia to establish new holdings in medical, aviation and engine industries

According to the head of the agency Boris Aleshin the holdings are planned in the powder, engine, aviation and medical industries. Today the documents on creating these holdings are ready to a different degree. These plans were announced at the “round table” “Is it possible to diversify the economy of Russia” held on March, 29. The speaker made it clear that the state is not going to increase its share in the already created industrial holdings.

The holdings to be created in the near future will use IPO or attract strategic investors (the latter is more preferable according to the point of view of the government). The bigger part of the gross product of the military-industrial complex in just few years will be made by the large holdings similar to those already established in aviation and shipbuilding. This is the idea behind the plans of the government to reorganize the industry. The final aim is 70% of the gross product to be made by the integrated holdings.

It is nearly certain that the next holdings to take shape will be in the aviation engines sector. Now it is clear that integration assumes at least two holding in this sphere. It is also clear that in the foreseeable future Salyut and Saturn will remain two different schools and “clusters” of engine building. Neither is strong enough to take over another. Oboronprom may set up a holding consisting of Chernyshev, Salyut, Klimov and UMPO. The head of Oboronprom Denis Manturov repeatedly confirmed the ambitions of his company to unite all engine makers dealing with ROE’s contracts into one holding.
