There are reports coming from Western media outlets of this alleged occurrence. The reports cite a certain source at Japan’s defence ministry. However, the Russian military categorically deny that their 3 bombers, stationed in Russia’s far east, have violated Japan’s air space. “There have been no violations of adjacent countries’ air space by Russian military aircrafts,” Anatoli Kornukov, Russia’s Air Force commander-in-chief, has said. It cannot be ruled out that in this case we deal with just another canard. There have been no comments over the alleged incident on the part of Japanese officials, the Russian foreign ministry also remaining silent. Apparently, those reports must be treated as a preparatory bombardment of sorts in the runup of a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Iosioro Mori to be held on March 25th-26th in the Siberian city of Irkutsk.
