Meeting with journalists yesterday, President Vladimir Putin stated that the head of state should not belong to a political party
'The head of state in Russia should have any party affiliations at the moment. He should be above political skirmishing and be independent and neutral,' declared Vladimir Putin in a press conference and the Kremlin today. He added that he had no intention of joining a political party.
On the whole, Putin believes that people need to join political parties, as this will bring the parties closer to ordinary life in the country. If federal parties are represented in regional parties, they will have to take into account regional interests. The president said that recent changes to electoral law were aimed at this.
