An old Ukrainian man witnessed three centuries

Old man Yakov, with a weird last name Loytra, living in the settlement of Malaya Viska, which is in the Kirovograd region of Ukraine, is the oldest man in the country. This was the outcome of the population census that was carried out at the end of the past year. Yakov Loytra witnessed three centuries. He was born back in 1894, he comes from a common family of peasants, he is used to hard work since his early childhood.

The most curious thing is that he is not going to give up even being 107 years old – he is rather active in his every-day life. He looks like he is 80, he likes to do everything by himself and does not want anyone to help him.

Yakov Loytra took part in the revolution, in the civil war, in the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Red Star decoration and a lot of medals. He raised four daughters and two sons with his wife. Speaking about his grandchildren – Yakov does not know the exact number of them. His education does not allow him to read newspapers, but Yakov spends his every evening watching TV – he is very interested in politics.
