An increase in railway transportation tariffs will not take place in the near future, Russian Railway Minister Gennady Fadeyev said today at a meeting of the Railway Ministry Board meeting dedicated to the results of the railway industry's performance in 2002. The Railway Minister was quoted as saying railway transportation tariffs will not be increased, despite the fact that "electric energy prices skyrocketed in a number of regions". As it was reported earlier, on January 15, 2003 railway transportation tariffs were increased 12 percent with the forecasted price growth of 30 percent in 2003.
