Moroccan Interior Minister Mustapha Al-Sahel has confirmed that the five terrorist acts in the country's largest city, Casablanca, were committed by Al-Qaeda, the Qatar Al-jazeera TV Channel has reported.
When speaking on the national TV channel, the Interior Minister announced that the terrorist acts had been plotted and committed by 14 people involved in the earlier unknown illegal As-Sirat al-mustakim organisation /"Direct way is the right way"/. 12 terrorists were killed in the terrorist acts, one was detained on that day and the other on May 18.
"The investigation confirmed the police theory on their connection with Al-Qaeda," the Minister stressed without giving further details.
According to Arab mass media, a total of about 30 people were detained by the police in Casablanca.
On May 16 five terrorist acts killed 41 people including 5 foreigners and wounded 100 people, 13 out of which are still in a grave condition.
In connection with the tragedy the Davis Coup match between Morocco and Great Britain scheduled to take place in Casablanca is most likely to be postponed.
