Chechen Militants In Afghanistan Could Break Through Tajik-Afghan Border

The command of the Federal Frontier Service (FPS) has admitted the possibility that gunmen from Afghanistan could cross the Tajik-Afghan border. Head of FPS Headquarters Nikolai Reznichenko announced on Thursday that the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan could lead to Chechen gunmen in the country attempting to break through the Tajik-Afghan border. According to him, the FPS command had sufficiently reliable information that "Chechen gunmen are active with Taliban ranks." Therefore, he said that one could not rule out the possibility that they would attempt to cross the border illegally.
