More than 80,000 people have been killed during the armed conflict in Syria, which continues since March 2011, human rights activists said Sunday.

A statement from the Supervisory Council for Human Rights says that about half of those killed in the confrontation between government troops and rebels were civilians.

It has also been reported recently that Russia and the U.S. were going to hold an international conference on Syria.
