Amy Winehouse and Fielder-Civil divorce after two years

After a tumultuous union filled with arrests, public spats and accusations of drug abuse, the turbulent marriage of British singer Amy Winehouse and onetime muse Blake Fielder-Civil ended on Thursday (July 16). The Associated Press reported that neither Winehouse, 25, nor Fielder-Civil, 27, were present when a judge granted the divorce petition at a brief Family Court hearing. The divorce becomes final after six weeks and a day, ending a marriage that provided dozens of international headlines and, according to sources close to Winehouse, nearly helped to write the epitaph for the troubled singer.

The couple, who met in a London bar in 2005, were married in a simple ceremony in front of a few friends in Miami in 2007 but spent much of their wedded life apart, as Fielder-Civil was arrested six months later on an assault charge and sent to jail, informs MTV.com.

As one of 25 couples seeking to dissolve their marriages, Fielder-Civil was granted the divorce from Winehouse in a hearing that lasted all of 75 seconds, as the singer admitted adultery, court papers show.

Neither she nor Fielder-Civil were at Court Three of the High Court Family Division in London's Holborn area to hear District Judge Michael Segal grant the "quickie" divorce.

In a question-and-answer format, the court papers show that it was Fielder-Civil who filed for the split. Asked if he finds it "intolerable" to live with Winehouse, he replies, "Yes." And when asked to "state briefly your reasons for saying that the respondent has committed the adultery alleged," he answers, "The Respondent confessed the adultery to me in April 2008," informs People Magazine.

Her father, Mitch Winehouse, has blamed Blake for his daughter's drug problems. Amy recently returned to the U.K. after spending several months in St. Lucia to kick her drug habit. Her father claimed that her alcohol abuse was setting her back, but she looked healthier when she arrived in London, Actress Archives informs.
