US Congressman: Moscow And Washington Have Opportunities For Cooperation In Sphere Of Anti-ballistic Missile Defence

Curt Weldon, a member of the US Committee for arms services, believes that Russian and the USA have opportunities for cooperation in the sphere of anti-ballistic missile defence. The Congressman told RIA Novosti that he expects this problem to get off the ground sooner or later and Russia and the USA will be partners in the protection of their citizens. Curt Weldon prepared a report on the prospects for Russian-US partnership. Moscow's and Washington's common approach to the deployment of the ABM system could include the concepts of the US national anti-ballistic missile defence, Russian initiatives on the creation of the anti-ballistic missile defence system in Europe and new proposals such as technical and economic basis for the development of the system of interception of missiles on the acceleration stage involving Russia, Israel and Turkey, Weldon stressed in his report.
