Private Things of Joseph Brodsky Exhibited

The Petersburg museum-flat of Alexander Blok, a branch of the State Museum of St. Petersburg History, will be running an exposition, Paints and Words, dedicated to the famous poet Joseph Brodsky. The exposition will open on Tuesday, January 28th, on the 7th anniversary of Brodsky's death.

The press service of the State Museum of St. Petersburg History told RIA Novosti that Brodsky's desk which used to stand in the poet's room in his Leningrad "communal" flat would be a central exhibit. Now the rarity is kept at the Museum of St. Petersburg History.

The exhibition Paints and Words will feature 35 graphic portraits of Joseph Brodsky made by artist Nikolai Dronnikov in the 1979-90s, when the poet was in Paris.

Among other works by Russian artist Nikolai Dronnikov who immigrated to Paris 30 years ago are his illustrations to Brodsky's books and to collections of verses and letters by famous artists Mikhail Larionov and Natalia Goncharova. In addition, the exhibits include the publication of Alexander Blok's poem Twelve with illustrations by Mikhail Larionov and Natalia Goncharova. The book was published in Russian, French and English in 1920.

The exposition Paints and Words will last for a month.
