Pavlovsk Museum to Host Concert and Fortune-Telling Evening on Epiphany Eve

On Sunday, on the eve of Epiphany, St.Petersburg's Great Pavlovsk Palace /the state museum estate "Pavlovsk"/ will host a concert featuring works by Pyotr Chaikovsky, Mikhail Glinka, Alexander Borodin and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov performed by the Russian Bass-Quintet.

Anna Zabelskaya, the museum's spokeswoman, told RIA Novosti that the concert would be part of the `Musical Romance of Pavlovsk` program. The program also features a one-day exhibition displaying unique items held in the museum's Special Repository.

The visitors of the `Ever-Radiant Porcelain Enamel Painting` exhibition will be able to see Russian Emperors' unique dinner and tea sets, porcelain inserts for antique furniture and resplendent china vases.

The Musical Romance program also includes an evening of fortune-telling. On the last evening of the Christmas-tide week, long regarded by Russians as the best time for fortune-telling, experts will tell the audience about various fortune-telling techniques traditionally used in Russia. The visitors will learn about sophisticated fortune-telling methods involving resort to water, looking-glasses and candles as well as about simpler rituals envisaging use of burnt paper or molten wax.

The boldest visitors will be able to take personal part in the fortune-telling practices.
