Sharks pursued traveller Fyodor Konyukhov's boat for 2 days

Russian traveller Fyodor Konyukhov, alone crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a rowing-boat, has already covered some 1,600 out of 5,400 kilometres. Sharks were pursuing his boat for the last two days, sportsmen from Vladivostok /Russia's Far East/, communication with Konyukhov on a satellite phone, told RIA Novosti.

According to Konyukhov, a storm kept him behind the schedule for two days. However, due the deviation from the original course his Boat UralAZ found itself in a warm Atlantic current. It will help him to make up for the lost time and to gain some days.

On October 12th, Fyodor Konyukhov headed for the first-ever single rowing marathon across the Atlantic Ocean on the route of Christopher Columbus. Konyukhov intended to cover 5,400 kilometres between the Canary Islands and Barbados for 100 days. It is known that on October 12th, 1492, Columbus reached the island of San Salvador (the Bahamas). This day is considered the official date of America's discovery.
