British singer Rod Stewart is gearing up to become a dad for the eighth time, after he and his wife Penny Lancaster announced that she is three months pregnant. Stewart, 65, and Lancaster, 39, who has a son Alastair, four, discovered the pregnancy as they celebrated their third wedding anniversary in Italy in June.
The baby will arrive just weeks after Stewart’s 66th birthday next January, and shortly before Lancaster turns 40 in March. “We were thrilled and delighted to be able to tell Alastair that he was going to be the big brother to a little baby, expected just before Mummy’s 40th birthday,” the Sun quoted them as saying on August 9, Oneindia reports.
“I’d love to be a dad again,” said Stewart. “When my first kids, Kimberley and Sean, were small I had to go off on tour and carve out a career for myself. Now, I can tour when I like.”
Asked about the pros and cons of being an older father, the singer said it was all good. “I’ll maybe only be around for 25 years at most, but it will be a happy, loving 25 years.”, Herald Scotland informs.
