Internet Addiction Proclaimed As a Serios Problem
The first residential treatment center in the U.S. for internet addition has recently opened in Washington. The treatment center is called ReSTART, and it offers a 45 day program to break internet addiction.During the program, patients will not be allowed any internet access. Instead, patients will spend time attending psychotherapy sessions, exercising, spending time outdoors and cooking. Some people claim that internet addiction is a serious condition that needs professional help. Many kids and college students have become so addicted to the internet that they have flunked out of school or college, and adults have lost marriages and jobs. Kids are most often addicted to playing video games or social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace or Twitter.Currently, health insurance does not cover the $14,000 price of this treatment, but there is enough debate about internet addiction that the condition could be covered for treatment by 2012.
