"We shall boost our efforts in the North Caucasus, in particular, in the military sphere. We shall deploy an Interior Ministry regiment and reinforce Defense Ministry units," Russian President Vladimir Putin told a press conference.
"The situation is stable and nobody doubted this stability," he added.
Speaking about the tragic events in Ingushetia on Monday night, Vladimir Putin said, "It was a terrorist invasion with severe consequences but it could not change the situation. It was a militants' attempt to demonstrate their force and possibilities, work out sponsors' money and destabilize the situation in the republic."
According to the head of state, what he saw during his trip to Ingushetia differed from what he knew staying in Moscow.
"I had to see what had happened and the results of the terrorist attack," Vladimir Putin noted.
