Vladimir Putin signs Decree on measures in relation to Liberia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a Decree, "On Measures to Fulfil the Resolution of the UN Security Council, No. 1478 of May 6, 2003" in relation to Liberia, the press-service of the head of state has told RIA Novosti.

The new Decree prolongs from May 7, 2003 to May 7, 2004 the validity of measures in relation to Liberia stipulated by the Decrees of the Russian President of August 28, 2001 and August 5, 2002 to fulfil the Resolutions of the UN Security Council, No. 1343 of March 7, 2001 and No. 1408 of May 6, 2002.

The Decree also says that the measures stipulated by the Decree of the Russian President of August 28, 2001 shall apply to all the members of the organization called The United Liberians for Reconciliation and Democracy and other armed rebel groups.

The Decree also prohibits the importation into Russia of all the types of round timber and timber products coming from Liberia from July 7, 2003 to May 7, 2004.
