A powerful car bomb has been detected and defused in Kizlyar, a city in the Republic of Daghestan which neighbours Chechnya. A local called the police saying that a car having a box with cords in its back seat was parked at a busy intersection of the city’s residential area. The area was sealed off. Sappers found a 3kg TNT equivalent bomb reinforced with a couple of 125mm shells, a heap of 7,62mm cartridges, nails and balls for bearings. The car was tugged out of the city and cleared of the deadly load.
